Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Retreat - Alan’s Grammar of Asana
Discover depth, balance, and transformation through the practice of yoga

An immersive experience dedicated to deepening your understanding of the Primary Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Each day, through Mysore practice, pranayama, and meditation, we will explore the grammar of asanas: the harmonious interplay of alignment, intention, and expression.

What Awaits You During the Retreat:
Daily Mysore Classes: Personalised practice with direct guidance from the teacher.
Grammar of Asana - In-Depth Study of the Primary Series: Detailed analysis of each posture, focusing on alignment (the foundation), intention (to a boat with no direction no wind is favourable), and expression (you are unique, so is your practice).
Pranayama Sessions: Learn techniques to control the breath and enhance energetic well-being.
Daily Meditation: Introduction to Buddhist meditation and guided sessions to cultivate calm and awareness.

Your Teacher
Alan has been teaching Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga for over 10 years, dedicated to keeping the traditional essence of this practice alive. He has been travelling to India since 2005 and, since 2017, has spent most of the year assisting his primary teacher, Vijay Kumar, in Mysore—the vibrant heart of Ashtanga Yoga. Here, he teaches and engages with practitioners from all over the world. His training also includes deep studies in pranayama, meditation, and yoga anatomy.

His practice focuses on the traditional Mysore style, where the body's rhythm is guided by the breath, transforming the practice into a meditation on impermanence and a journey towards an equanimous mind. Alan believes that yoga should be a personal expression born from self-love and acceptance, rather than a competition.

Since 2011, Alan has also been exploring Tibetan Buddhism through studies and retreats in India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. His experience and integrated approach provide profound, personalised teachings that inspire practitioners to connect authentically with their yogic and spiritual paths.
